Expert Feeding Therapy with a Specialized Focus in Infant Feeding
Helping you understand why feeding feels hard - giving you the hands-on support and clear plan you need to move forward with confidence.
Our Approach
Feeding is complex – and when challenges arise, there is often more than one factor involved.
Our approach is designed to support both you and your baby by looking beyond the surface to understand what’s really going on. We consider feeding from every angle, including oral motor function, latch, coordination, and your baby’s unique needs.
You’ll receive individualized, hands-on support that aligns with your goals and feels realistic for your family.
Care is delivered in-person and within Dr. Appleton’s office, allowing for collaborative, team-based care when additional support or assessment is needed.
How I Help
I provide comprehensive, in-person feeding therapy for infants and young children, with a focus on:
Breastfeeding challenges (pain, latch, poor weight gain)
Bottle feeding difficulties
Oral motor dysfunction
Suspected tongue or lip ties
Slow or inefficient feeding
Transition to solids
Picky eating and feeding aversion
Every session is individualized and hands-on, giving you practical strategies you can use right away.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a gentle, exercise-based approach that supports optimal function of the mouth, tongue, lips, and face. It focuses on improving the way we breathe, swallow, chew, and rest our oral muscles - skills that play a major role in feeding, speech, sleep, and overall growth.
What Makes This Different
✔ A Whole-Picture Approach
Feeding is more than just eating. I assess oral motor skills, coordination, latch mechanics, and overall function to understand the root cause of challenges.
✔ In-Person, Hands-On Care
You and your baby receive real-time guidance, positioning support, and feeding strategies during your session - not just advice.
✔ SLP + Lactation Integration
As a Speech-Language Pathologist with feeding expertise, I bridge oral motor function and feeding mechanics with breastfeeding support.
✔ Collaborative Medical Care
Services are provided within Dr. Appleton’s office, allowing for coordinated care and communication when additional assessment or treatment is needed.
